Kammweg

The ridge trail was a 1904 eröffneter distance hike along the ridge lines of Elstergebirge, Erzgebirge, Bohemian Switzerland, Lusatian Mountains, Jeschke Mountains, Jizera and Giant Mountains, Śnieżnik Mountains and Altvatergebirge. This path was once the longest tourist route in Germany. Since 2011, the ridge path tradition is continued with the ridge trail Erzgebirge- Vogtland, which runs on the German side.

History

The plan was a track alignment on all border mountains of Bohemia and Moravia- Silesia from the Danube to the Oder, in the longest dimension led the way from Hainberg at Asch ( Czech Haj u Aše ) to Altvater ( Praděd ) in Altvatergebirge.

After 1945, the harmonized marking the path was closed, most of the sections of the trail, however, were obtained as a hiking trail. After 1990, it was re-marked on large parts of the historic Wegtrasse the European long-distance hiking trail E3.

The ridge trail Erzgebirge- Vogtland

On 13 May 2011 the ridge trail Erzgebirge- Vogtland was inaugurated, which runs exclusively on the German side. It starts in Geising in the Eastern Ore Mountains and ends after 289 kilometers in Blankenstein in Thuringia, where it connects to the Rennsteig and Frankenweg. Main carrier of the ridge path Ore Mountains - Vogtland are the Tourism Erzgebirge eV and Tourism Vogtland eV The implementation of the joint project was carried out with support from the municipalities and counties on the ridge trail, the state enterprise Sachsenforst, the Nature Park Erzgebirge- Vogtland and the hiking associations of the Vogtland, Ore Mountains and Franconian Forest. The ridge trail Erzgebirge- Vogtland has been certified as a quality trail.
