The Great roots in the Harz Mountains is a 625.8 m above sea level. NN high southern slopes of the ridge On the field (field ) near Sieber in the unincorporated area of the county resin Osterode am Harz in Lower Saxony.

Geographical location

The Great Roots Mountain is located in the Upper Harz Harz nature park about 4 km northeast of Sieber, a district of Herzberg am Harz. He gets up from lying in the neighboring national park Harz field as withdrawing to the south ridge which forms the watershed between the Little and Big Kulmke Kulmke in the west to the east. To the east, on the south to the southwest of the Great Mountain roots of parts of the nature reserve Siebertal is enclosed. Approximately 770 m west-northwest is, beyond the valley of the Little Kulmke, the summit of the Little Berg's roots.

Afforestation

In the period 1596-1732, the two roots mountains were covered with beech and spruce in a small scale varying proportions.
