Großriedenthal

Großriedenthal is a municipality with 926 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Tulln in Lower Austria.

Geography

Großriedenthal located in the hills of the wine district in Lower Austria around eight kilometers by road north of Kirchberg am Wagram. The area of ​​the municipality covers 18.83 square kilometers. 3.42 percent of the area is forested.

History

In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying, the place told the eventful history of Austria.

Riedenthal meant once a grubbed-up location in the valley, and later the valley of the good wine vineyard. The name first appeared in 1110 in a documentary mention in Passau. The Good Riedenthal was owned by the same noble family, whose castle was probably located on the north of the municipality 's local mountain. In 1285 for the first time a wooden castle on the hill was mentioned. On this project are still Erdställe.

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 984 inhabitants. In 1991 the community had 998 inhabitants in 1981 and 998 in 1971, 1,043 inhabitants.

Culture and sights

  • Mountain House:
