Großtreben-Zwethau

Großtreben - Zwethau was a municipality in the district of North Saxony, Saxony. She belonged to the merger with Beilrode January 1, 2011, the administration of Community Beilrode.

Geography

Geographical location

The former municipality is located in the Labe region east of the Elbe and on the western edge of the Anna Burger Heide in the triangle to the states of Brandenburg and Saxony- Anhalt. The neighboring towns are Torgau (15 km), Jessen ( 20 km) and Herzberg ( 21 km). The Federal Highway 87 runs south of the former township.

History

The territory has been inhabited since about 1000 BC, so wooden hatchets and urns have been found from this period. The municipality was created in 1994 by the merger of places Großtreben and Zwethau.

  • Zwethau

Already in the year 981 Zwethau is first mentioned in a document called the oldest town of the community in a charter of Emperor Otto II, when he donated the castle Zuetie and the surrounding land to the monastery Memleben.

Großtreben first mentioned as Treben documented in 1238. The place, to suffer like all places in the municipality under the turmoil of war.

Dautzschen was mentioned in 1242 in records for the first time.
