Geography

Großweikersdorf located in the southern wine district at the output of the Valley of Schmida in the field Tulln in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 43.32 square kilometers. 8.54 percent of the area is forested.

  • Fischer von Erlach church: The parish church Großweikersdorf was built according to plans by Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach from 1733 to 1740 in the style of early classicism under the leadership of the Austrian architect Johann Baptist Martinelli. Thus, this church is ( in addition to the continued construction of the Church of St. Charles and the parish church of Safov in South Moravia) one of the three sacred buildings of the famous architect " Fischer von Erlach the Younger ".
