The GRTgaz, SA ( originally for Gestionnaire du Réseau de Transport Gaz ) based in Bois Colombes, near Paris, is a French transmission system operator for natural gas. GRTgaz runs a European transmission system with a length of 32 121 kilometers, mainly in France. GRTgaz is a 75 % subsidiary of GDF Suez Group.

Background

GRTgaz was founded on 1 January 2005 by the former GDF to operate the relocated gas network independently and without discrimination according to EU energy directives. 2011 GDF Suez sold a 25 % interest in Société d' Infrastructures Gazières (SIG ), a consortium consisting of state investors CNP Assurances and Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations.

GRTgaz in Germany and Austria

GRTgaz Germany GmbH (formerly Gaz de France Germany Transport GmbH ), headquartered in Berlin is a wholly owned subsidiary of GRTgaz. As shareholders of MEGAL ( with a 44 % share ) GRTgaz Germany is co-manager of the same pipeline system in Germany. Moreover GRTgaz Germany shareholder of NetConnect Germany and the Trac -x. To further marketing of capacity at border crossing points GRTgaz Germany cooperates with the platforms Capsquare and GATRAC. In Austria GRTgaz holds 34 % stake in the Baumgarten - top Gasleitungsgesellschaft Society ( BOG), the operator of the West-Austria -Gas-Pipeline.
