Grzybowo, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Grzybowo ( German Gribow ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the rural community in Kolobrzeg powiat Kołobrzeski.

Geographical Location and Transport

The village is located in Pomerania, near the Baltic Sea coast, about six kilometers west of the city of Kolobrzeg ( Kolberg).

The neighboring towns to the east and Dźwirzyno Kolobrzeg ( Kolberg Deep ) in the West can be reached by public transport. The nearest train station is in Stary Borek ( Altbork ) on the railway line Koszalin - Goleniów ( Koszalin - Gollnow ), the closest major railway station is located in Kolobrzeg.

History

Dss relatively new village was built only in 1822 on its own land and city of Kolberg and grew rapidly thereafter. 1846 Gribow had 300 inhabitants in 50 houses and around 1864 lived there already 512 inhabitants in 90 families and 65 houses.

By 1945 Gribow formed a municipality in the district Kolberg- Körlin the Prussian province of Pomerania. Towards the end of the Second World War, the region was occupied in the spring of 1945 by the Red Army and then put together with all Pomerania under Polish administration. The inhabitants were evicted, robbing the houses and farms and taken over by Poland.

Economy

The main source of income of the inhabitants is summer tourism. A lot of them have houses as pensions and as holiday homes. The proximity to the sea and nature led to the blossoming of bicycle tourism.
