Guangzhao Dam

The Guangzhao Dam (光照 水库) is a concrete gravity dam on Beipan Jiang at Guangzhao in Guanling county, Guizhou province, China. The main purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power production and additional water regulation and irrigation. The dam jams on the most elevated reservoir on Beipan. It was built between 2003 and 2008. The average annual production is 2745 GWh of energy.

Construction

Construction began in May 2003 and the river was diverted in October 2004. With the impoundment of the reservoir was begun in 2007 and in 2008, the dam and the hydroelectric power plant (4 × 260 MW) were completed. On June 28, 2010, there was a landslide in the nearby area, residents were killed by the 99. It is believed that the landslide was caused by an evoked by the weight of the reservoir earthquake.

Characteristics

The dam is 200.5 meters high and 410 meters long and consists of Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC ). She has three spillway chutes on their back.
