Guatire is a Venezuelan city in the state of Miranda.

History

Formation and colonial period

There is no fixed date for the founding Guatires. It emerged slowly from the settlements of peasants, slaves and laborers who worked in the haciendas, who built many Spaniards in the area. In 1680, the Parroquia of Santa Cruz del Valle de Pacairigua was founded. In 1768 gave a Landbesitzeing, Margarita de Alvarenga, a plot of land to build a church and priest's house. The main church and the square 24 de Julio are there now. During the colonial period and until 1874 Guatire was administered from Guarenas.

Wed 18th century joined many residents Guatires to the rebellion of Juan Francisco de León against the monopoly of the Guipuzcoana trading house.
