Guido Leoni

Guido Leoni ( * July 14, 1915 in Castellucchio (MN ), Italy, † May 6, 1951 in Ferrara, Italy ) was an Italian motorcycle racer.

Career

Guido Leoni played in the inaugural season of the motorcycle world championship, in 1949, to Moto Guzzi two races in the 500 cc class. He finished in sixth place respectively at the Grands Prix of Switzerland and Belgium. In 1950, he won for the manufacturer of Mandello del Lario the title in the quarter-liter class of the Italian road championship and the half-liter victory at the endurance race Milano -Taranto.

In 1951, Guido Leoni went for FB Mondial, the machines at that time dominated the 125 cc category at the start. In April, he could Italians at the opening Grand Prix of the season, the Spanish Grand Prix in Montjuïc celebrate his first win in the Motorcycle World Championship ahead of his teammate Carlo Ubbiali.

Fatal Accident

Guido Leoni crashed on May 6, 1951 at the 125 cc race of belonging to the Italian championship race Circuito di Ferrara on the street circuit of Ferrara at a mass accident fatal. Only two and a half months later, the Moto Guzzi factory rider Gianni Leoni and Luigi Alberti suffered fatal in a tragic accident in practice for the Ulster Grand Prix. The drivers were not related or by marriage.
