Guillaume de Varax

Life

Guillaume was the son of Etienne, Lord of the novel and Saint -André -en- Bresse and his wife Claudine de Saint -Amour. Guillaume was in the Benedictine located near Lyon Abbey on the Ile Barbe. It was in 1440 prior of Préterive in Savoy and Piedmont in 1446 abbot of the monastery of Saint- Michel de la cluse. He was Bishop of Belley in 1460 and in 1462 transferred from Pius II against the resistance of the Duke of Savoy in the diocese of Lausanne. Guillaume resided in the castle of Ouchy, which he left to renovate.
