Guiscriff

Guiscriff ( Breton: Gwiskri ) is a commune with some 2,350 inhabitants ( January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association Pays du Roi Morvan.

Geography

Guiscriff is located in the northwest of the department of Morbihan on the border of the Finistère department and is part of the Pays du Roi Morvan.

Neighboring municipalities are Roudouallec in the north, and Gourin Le Saint in the northeast, Faouët in the east, Lanvénégen in the Southeast and located in the department of Finistère communities Querrien and Saint- Thurien in the south and Scaër in the West.

The village itself lies off major thoroughfares. About ten kilometers east of Guiscriff leads past the D769 to Saint -Pol-de -Léon to Lorient. The most important national road connecting the N165 to the south. West of the town lies the aerodrome Aerodrome Bretagne Atlantique.

The major bodies of water are the river and the streams Inam St. Antoine, St. Jean, Kergonan, Kerlavarec, Pont Malaga and Goarem Clujiry. In the municipality there are several ponds.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Kernev (Fr. Cornwall ) and within this region to region Aven (French as well ) and shares his story. Guiscriff belonged from 1793 to its dissolution in 1801 Canton Lanvénégen. Since then, the place is assigned to the Canton Faouët.
