Gültan Kışanak

Gültan Kisanak ( born June 15, 1961 in Elazig, Turkey) is a Kurdish politician in Turkey. Kisanak is a Member of Barış ve Demokrasi Partisi (BDP ) in the Turkish parliament and co-chairman of the BDP.

Kisanak studied Turkish at the University of Dicle, however, the study broke off. They later concluded from the study of journalism and public relations at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Ege Universitesi in Izmir and worked as a journalist for several newspapers, including in 1991 for the Yeni Ülke. In 1992, she was Adana correspondent of Özgür Gündem. Later became chief editor of the newspaper in Istanbul. After the banning of the newspaper she worked in a managerial capacity for the Özgür Ülke. Until 2002, she worked at various newspapers, including as a columnist for the Yeniden Özgür Gündem.

In addition, she was a consultant and coordinator for social projects of the city government Bağlar in the " Büyükşehir Belediyesi " ( city municipality ) Diyarbakir.

They successfully ran as an independent candidate for the parliamentary elections in Turkey in 2007 for the province of Diyarbakir. After the election, she joined the Demokratik Toplum Partisi (DTP ) at. Kisanak appeared in the 2008 film shot " What a beautiful democracy", which reports on the election campaign of the Turkish women.

In early 2009 she prepared a bill to allow the use of the letters Q, W, and X from the Kurmanci version of the Latin alphabet in the Turkish public.

After the banning of the DTP on 11 December 2009 Gültan Kisanak the BDP joined. There she, acting with Selahattin Demirtas, the Office of the Co-Chairs. For the general elections in June 2011, she stood on as an independent candidate for Siirt and was re-elected. She is a Member of the Turkish Parliament Siirt Province. Gültan Kisanak is married, mother of a child and is committed to the denomination of the Alevis.
