Gum catalog

The Gum Catalogue is an astronomical catalog of 84 emission nebulae in the southern hemisphere. It was compiled at Mount Stromlo Observatory by the Australian astronomer Colin Stanley Gum (1924-1960) of data on the basis of wide-angle photography.

Gum published his work in 1955 in a study entitled A study of diffuse southern H -alpha nebulae, which was a compilation of 84 associations of mists or fogs. Similar compilations are the Sharpless catalog and the RCW catalog, with a corresponding number of objects are also shown in this.

The Gum Nebula is named after Colin Stanley Gum, who also discovered him and bears the number 12 in the Gum catalog; This is an emission nebula in the southern constellations sailing of the ship and aft deck of the ship.
