Guðmundur Guðmundsson (handball)

Guðmundur Þórður Guðmundsson ( born December 23, 1960 in Reykjavík ) is coach of the Rhein- Neckar Löwen.

As a player Guðmundsson scored 356 goals in 230 appearances for the Icelandic selection. With Iceland, he took part in the Olympic Games in 1984 and 1988.

From the summer of 1999 to March 2001 was Guðmundsson coach of TSV Bayer Dormagen. Under his leadership, Iceland won the silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. By early 2010, he trained alongside the Icelandic national first division club GOG Svendborg TGI Danish. In the European Championship 2010 in Austria Iceland his team won the bronze medal. In the so-called " small final " you defeated in the Vienna bronze medalist Poland with 29:26 ( 18:10 ).

In April 2010, he was sports director at the Danish club Copenhagen AG. In August 2010 he also took over at the Rhein- Neckar Löwen as a member of the sports management of the Association is responsible for all future transfers of players.
