Günter Baumann

Günter Helmut Baumann ( born August 1, 1947 in Annaberg -Buchholz ) is a German politician ( CDU) and since 2005 Chairman of the Working Group petitions of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group.

Life and work

After the completion of vocational training with High School 1967 Baumann graduated from the Technical University of Dresden, which he finished in 1971 as a graduate engineer in textile technology. Subsequently, he was until 1990 in the textile industry, most recently as plant manager in a Posamentenbetrieb, works. Baumann is Protestant, married and has two children.

Baumann joined the CDU in 1972 in the GDR, was from 1990 to 1998 mayor of the city Jöhstadt and is a member of since 1990 the council of the district of Annaberg. He is a member of the German Bundestag and there since November 2005, Chairman of the Working Group petitions of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and a member of the Committee on Petitions and the Interior Committee of the German Bundestag since 1998. Baumann is in each case as directly elected representative of the constituencies Annaberg - Stollberg - Zschopau (1998), Annaberg - Aue -Schwarzenberg (2002 and 2005) and Erzgebirge District I ​​( 2009 and 2013 ) joined the Bundestag. In the general election in 2013 it reached 50.2 % of the primary vote.

At the suggestion of his group Baumann was awarded on 15 December 2010 with the Order of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, which caused public criticism because of the lump-sum award of practice according to the proportional method to members of the Bundestag and the non-public ceremony.
