Guy Patin

Guy Patin (also in the spelling of Gui Patin; * 1601 Hodenc -en- Bray, Oise; † August 30, 1672 in Paris) was a French scholar and physician.

Life

Godmother was 1650-1652 Dean ( Dean ) of the Faculty of Medicine in Paris and from 1655 professor at the College de France.

He was a member of the Academy of Henri Louis Habert de Montmor

He is known for his correspondence, which shows him as early freethinkers and is also available as document the medical history of significance. It was published around ten years after his death. Patin wrote poetry, organized revisions and was known as a collector of books. He acted with officially banned books as well as his son Charles Patin. Both were therefore arrested in 1666 and Charles Patin received in 1668 a lifelong galleys.
