Guy R. Pelton

Guy Ray Pelton (* August 3, 1824 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, † July 24, 1890 in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1855 and 1857 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Guy Pelton attended community schools and the Connecticut Literary Institute in Suffield (Connecticut). He taught and studied law. After receiving his license to practice law in 1851, he began practicing in New York City. He has held several local offices. Politically, he was a member of the opposition party. In the congressional elections of 1854 he was in the third electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Hiram Walbridge on March 4, 1855. He suffered in his re-election bid in 1856, a defeat and retired after March 3, 1857 the Congress of. Then he took in Great Barrington his work as a lawyer again. He died on July 24, 1890 on a climbing trip to the Mary Mountain in Yellowstone National Park and was then buried in Mahaiwe Cemetery in Great Barrington.
