Gwen McCrae
Gwen McCrae ( born December 21, 1943 as Gwen Mosley in Pensacola, Florida) is an American soul and disco singer. She was known among other things, the hit Rockin 'Chair. She is the ex-wife of George McCrae.
Career
Gwen McCrae brought it 1970-1984 to eleven entries in the American R & B charts. Her biggest success - and at the same time the only hit in the pop charts ( ninth place ) - was the single Rockin 'Chair, 1975 number one on the R & B charts. In the same year Gwen McCrae was nominated for her vocal performance of "Best R & B singer " for both the Grammy as well as for the American Music Award. For the pop world, they nevertheless remained a one hit wonder.
This was followed by minor hits in the R & B charts, including duets with her then-husband George McCrae, whom she had married in 1963. The marriage was, especially after the two had experienced her breakthrough in show business, very unhappy. Multiple mentioned Gwen McCrae later that her ex - husband had also beaten.
