Gwendoline Eastlake-Smith

Gwendoline " Gladys " Eastlake -Smith ( born August 14, 1883 in London, † September 18, 1941 in Middleham, Yorkshire, after her marriage Gladys Lamplough ) was an English tennis player.

Eastlake -Smith was born in 1883 as the daughter of Charles Eastlake Smith and his wife Lizzie Smith. Her father played football for the clubs Crystal Palace and Wanderers FC and in 1876 participated in an international match against Scotland.

1907 Eastlake -Smith won the British Indoor Championships ( Covered Court Championships ). A year later she won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in London. In the same year she married the doctor Wharram Henry Lamplough. Most recently, she took part in 1921 at the Wimbledon Championships.

Eastlake -Smith died in 1941 at the age of 58 years in Middleham.
