Gwenhwyfach [ gwen'huivax ] is a legendary figure of medieval Arthurian legend.

Mythology

Culhwch ac Olwen In the story ( " The story of Culhwch and Olwen " ) from Celtic mythology of Wales is reported that she was the sister Gwenhwyfars, the wife of King Arthur and himself married to Mordred. She is the daughter of the king Leodegrance ( Lleudd - Ogrfan ), in the Welsh tradition but also the daughter of the king Ogrfan Gawr (also Ogyruan, Ogyrvan, Gogyrfan ), a giant who is mentioned in some local legends on the edge. In two verses of Trioedd Ynys Prydein ( " The Triads of the Island of Britain " ) is said an argument between her and her sister was the reason for the battle of Camlann with the death of Arthur and Mordred been. The slap that gave Gwenhwyfach in this dispute Gwenhwyfar is therefore called " one of the three unfortunate slaps the island of Britain "
