Gymnomitriaceae

The Gymnomitriaceae are a moss family from the order of Jungermanniales.

Features

The plantlets grow in cushion -shaped lawn, which are often highly colored brownish or reddish. The stems are upright. The edge leaves are placed transversely, have two lobes and are kahn - to channel-shaped folded. Under sheets do not exist. Each cell contains two to three large oil bodies. The tissue of the stems forming the Archegonienanlage a short tube, the so-called Perygynium. A perianth is present and is clearly dominated by the bracts. It may also be reduced or completely absent. Propagules are not formed.
