Hackenköpfe

The chopping heads in the middle of the ridge, left at the end of the Scheffauer. View from the east of the Kopfkraxe ( 2178 m)

The pecking heads are a number of peaks in the western Kaiser mountains in Austria. Its maximum height is 2126 meters. You are in the Sonneck (Mountain) to the west running ridge between Treffauer and Scheffauer. To the north, they fall in up to 800 m high rock walls to Kaisertal from out south to rugged, steep rock faces. Most often they are either climbed over the ridge from the Sonneck or over the ridge from Scheffauer. Both normal routes include passages with difficulty II UIAA and are not marked or secured. The popular but challenging exceeding the comb from Scheffauer to Sonneck with starting point Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser also touches on the chopping heads.
