Hackman Owusu-Agyeman

Hackman Owusu- Agyeman ( born November 22, 1941 in Effidiase, Koforidua, Ghana ) is a leading politician of Ghana. He was until July 2007 Minister of Water Resources, Labour and Housing, but resigned in order to compete as a candidate of the New Patriotic Party in the 2008 presidential election can. Previously, he was Ghanaian Foreign Minister and Minister of the Interior under President John Agyekum Kufuor also.

Childhood and education

Hackman Owusu- Agyeman was born in Effidiase, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Between 1961 and 1965, he attended St. Augustine College. He continued his studies continued at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology ( Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology ) 1965-1968. Here he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

In 1969, he was the master of an extensive agricultural studies at Wye College, at that time belonging to the University of London, awarded in Agriculture Economics. In the Netherlands, he continued to study agriculture and received the certificate for 1997 Country Economic Planning from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague in the Netherlands.

Career

Even during the reign of Kwame Nkrumah in 1965 Owusu- Agyeman has held a position in the Ministry of Agriculture. After the military coup of 1966, he was appointed Senior Agricultural Economist in the Ministry of Agriculture in Ghana under the military junta of the National Liberation Council in 1968.

Since the seventies, Owusu- Agyenang works for various organizations. So he was in the 1974 Feldforschund the Organization for Food and Agriculture (Food and Agricultural Organization ) ( FAO) worked. In 1977 he was appointed by the Organization in the Department of Economic Analysis and 1979 he was Liaison Officer. In Accra, he worked for the organization for food and agriculture as a regional representative. Between 1979 and 1984 he held when used in Zambia, the management of the organization.

Between 1984 and 1989 he was a representative of FAO in Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean, and Guyana. Also at this time he was head of the headquarters of the Regional Office of FAO in Rome, Italy.

Hackman Owusu- Agyeman appeared in 1992 in the New Patriotic Party (NPP ) in Ghana. He was treasurer of the party. In the years 1996, 2000 and 2004, he won a parliamentary seat in the constituency of New Juaben North in national elections. Already with the electoral victory of the NPP under the direction of elections in 2001, Owusu- Agyeman Secretary of State under President John Agyekum Kufuor and 2003 Minister of the Interior. He served in the Ministry of Water Resources, Public Works and Housing Minister His last point, however, voluntarily resigned in July 2007 with other ministers also back to stand as a presidential candidate for the presidential elections of 2008.
