Hahnberg (Thuringian Highland)

The rooster is a mountain in an average of 686 m above sea level. NHN height located gently rolling plateau of the Thuringian Slate Mountains in the district Saalfeld- Rudolstadt, Thuringia ( Germany ).

It is located west of the community in the light of Thuringian Forest Nature Park. Neighboring mountains are the Spitzerberg ( 790.3 m), the rough hill ( 801.9 m) and the Mutzenberg (770 m) to the northeast, the Mittelberg ( 803.6 m) in the southeast, the Apelsberg (780 m) in the southwest and Rücker Biel ( 756 m ) in the west.

The Hahnberg is built of schist from the deep Silurian. Index fossil is Phycodes circinatum, a Ichnofossil. The Phycodenschiefer the Hahn Berg has a high iron content. The Hahnberg is mainly used as grazing land and is partially covered by coniferous forest.
