Hair of the Dog is the title of the sixth studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth.

The LP was recorded in 1975 in the Escape Studios in Kent, England and was first produced by Nazareth guitarist Manny Charlton, so the bassist of Deep Purple, Roger Glover, replaced items from producer. " Hair of the Dog" cashed platinum in the U.S. for more than 2 million units sold, and there was also the most successful album of Nazareth. First, the work " Son of a Bitch ", should read, but the record company refused to release under such a wicked track. Nevertheless, the line was " Now you're messing with a Son of a Bitch" from the song " Hair of the Dog" to the best known of the band and the slogan on many shirts. The artwork was done by Dave Roe: A three-headed hellhound rises from the sea and around him peeping numerous skulls from the water. The influence on later albums from the Heavy Metal range is certainly undeniable.

Singles

The ballad " Love Hurts ", the commercially successful single of the band landed on the U.S. version of " Hair of the Dog". In Europe, instead, was another ballad, "Guilty ", packed in this place. " Love Hurts " was released here so only as a single. Otherwise, there were no further extractions. Two singles from the album independently, " Holy Roller " and " My White Bicycle", but also came out in 1975. This then appeared in the 90s as bonus tracks on the remastered CD of " Hair of the Dog".

Style and influence

At Hair of the Dog Blue skirt the previous albums, appeared clearly in the background shimmers and only here and there a little, as in parts the title track and Whiskey Drinkin 'Woman. The essence of this publication makes heavy rock out. One of the cornerstones of heavy metal is present here. Especially numbers like Miss Misery, Changin ' Times, ' Beggar's Day prove that point.

In 2007, the band recorded a cover of Kid Ego with the authors Nazareth in Background. The proceeds from the single will benefit a clinic for children with cancer.
