Hajdúszoboszló

Hajduszoboszlo [ hɒjdu ː soboslo ː ] ( German: Sobol, older Hungarian name: Szoboszló ) is a spa town in the Great Hungarian Plain. Only about 20 km from Debrecen and some 200 km from Budapest, this city is located just off the M4 and is located in Hajdú-Bihar county. The famous Hortobágy National Park is nearby. Of the 24,000 inhabitants of the vast majority is Calvinist. In Hajduszoboszlo is located at 30 hectares the largest Kurfreibadanlage Hungary Thermal Hajduszoboszlo. Due to the healing springs and some natural gas fields in the vicinity Hajduszoboszlo today is a rather affluent community in the still relatively poor eastern Hungary.

Geography

In the 1920s, thermal water was discovered gas well by the geologist Ferenc Pávai Vajna. The municipal area of Hajduszoboszlo is divided into two parts, the main part is also the city and this is drained by the Keleti channel. The main part borders the following municipalities:

History

The first written mention dates back to King Géza I. in 1075. Beginning of the 17th century moved Stephan Bocskai Hajdús in the city on, hence the time not yet widespread in Hajdú name. In 1660 the city was devastated by Turkish forces under the leadership of Ahmed Szejdi in the punitive expedition against George II Rákóczi.

Hajduszoboszlo has an airport ( ICAO code: LHHO ) and a connection to the M4 motorway ( E573 ) as well as a station on the railway line Szolnok - Záhony ( MAV route number 100).
