Hakim Toumi

Hakim Toumi ( born January 30, 1961 in Algiers ) is a retired Algerian hammer thrower.

The 1.80 m wide and 102 -pound athlete was from the mid 1980s to the late 1990s by far the best Africans in his discipline. With Pan-African Games he won in 1987 and 1995, the gold medal and 1987 silver medal. He won 1984-1996 seven times the title at athletics championships Africa. Only at the Africa Championships in Athletics in 1990 his winning streak was interrupted by a third place in the Africa Championships in Athletics 1998, he took second place. In addition, Toumi was a total of seventeen times Algerian champion hammer thrower (1982-1990, 1992-1998, 2003).

Nevertheless, he could not compete with the world dominated by Europeans tip it on an international level. Both at World Athletics Championships (1983, 1993, 1997 ) as well as in his two Olympic appearances (1984, 1988) never succeeded Toumi, to qualify for a final.
