Half-Breed (politics)

Half- Breeds, actually name the of mixing French Canadian men and Native American women emerged descendants (see Bois- Brûlés ), then name of a faction of the Republican Party in the United States, which opposed Conklings influence and 1880 brought an action against a re-election Grants objection.

The then U.S. President James A. Garfield was more inclined to Half- Breeds as to their opponents, the stalwarts. As September 1882 Secretary Charles J. Folger was nominated for the governorship of New York, the Half- Breeds of choice, after Stephen Grover Cleveland was elected contained.

1890, the two factions of the Half- Breeds and Stalwarts were reunited.
