Halligen Frisian

Halligfriesisch is a North Frisian dialect, which is located on the North Frisian holms in North Frisia. The dialect is considered critically endangered. In 1972, still around 20 percent of Halligbewohner spoke Frisian; anyway for the low population of the holms, this means that even then no more than 60 people were still dominating the language. Current language statistics do not exist.

Linguistically the Halligfriesische is a dialect of the mainland Frisian. It is considered the dialect, which is the beach on the north and in the 18th century on Pellworm extinct in the 17th century Frisian Strander the next. Even with the extinct around 1980 Southshore Goes Harder Frisian it has much similarity.
