Hallsville is a city in Harrison County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city lies at the confluence of U.S. Highway 80 to the Farm Road 450 to the line of the Union Pacific Railroad, 20 km west of Marshall in the southwest of the county. The place is around 90 km to the east of Oklahoma approximately 50 miles from Arkansas and Louisiana, in the north and has a total area of 5.9 km ² without significant water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 2,772 people in 993 households and 799 families. The population density was 469.4 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 93.15 % White, 4.76 % African American, 0.14 % Native American, 0.36 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 0.69 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 0.90% were Mixed Race and 2.27 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 993 households 48.6 % had children under the age of 18 living with them. 62.8 % were married couples living together. 14.8% were single mothers and 19.5 % were non-families. 17.8 % of all households were single-person households and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size to 3.16 persons.

33.2% of the population were under 18 years old, 7.5 % from 18 to 24, 31.3 % 25-44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.5 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 33 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 86.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 83.2 males.
