Geography
Ham Lake is located at the Minnesota State Route 65, approximately 32 kilometers north of Minneapolis. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 13.6 square miles, of which 0.4 square miles of water. Larger lakes in the city of Ham Lake Ham Lake are in the city center, as well as the Lake Netta and the southern part of Coon Lake.
History
The earliest records date back to 1855 when a group of immigrants in the southern part of today's urban area settled. The place was called Glen Cary, which the Scottish " beautiful valley " means. During a fire in 1857 the settlement was, however, completely destroyed and the inhabitants left the place. 1866 settled again immigrants - especially Scandinavians - and later changed the name in Ham Lake. 1871 Ham Lake Township was established in January 1974 its town rights.
