Course

The Hamel rises in Hamelspringe on the eastern edge of the Süntelberges at 184 m above sea level. NN and flows through the Deister Süntel valley and the Weser valley at 67 m above sea level. NN in the Weser. In a private garden of the village Hamelspringe is their source. From here it flows first to the east by Bad mouths and then southward through Hachmühlen. Behind the Hachmühlen Hamel changes its flow direction to the southwest and now follows the federal highway 217 on the southern side to Hameln, the famous Pied Piper town that bears its name. They crossed the places Hasperde, United Hillig field and Rohrsen. Shortly before Hameln it is separated by a weir in flood Hamel and Hamel.
