Han -sur -Lesse is a former municipality in the province of Namur in Wallonia, Belgium. As part of local government reform in Han -sur -Lesse the community Rochefort was assigned. It lies in the valley of the Lesse.

Naming

In 1139, the village of Ham was mentioned in a document, from 1266 Han Sur Lesche, according to the language conversion of the river then Han -Sur leche ( 1465), and from 1528 finds Ham lez in the documents. The name Han was the historian of the term Hameau opinion, French for ponds, small place, about to Ham Han. And sur Lesse is located on the river Lesse. Han Ham or carry many other villages in the name of which lie on a river meanders. General

The inhabitants nenen to Ayets. Since 1974, an air battalion of the Belgian armed forces stationed in Han -sur- Lesse. On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary a big celebration took place in the center of the village and on the square instead of the cave exit, were in the helicopter flights and paragliding on offer.

Buildings, Nature, Travel

Dominant in the village is the Church of St. Hubert, built 1902/1903 in neo-Gothic style. At the entrance on the main road grows a linden tree, were driven into the numerous nails.
