Haninah ben Teradion

Hanina (also: Hananiah ) ben Teradion was a Tannaite 2nd generation and Jewish martyrs.

He was one of the ten martyrs of Rome ( in the time of persecution under Hadrian ). Through his daughter Berurja he was father in law of Rabbi Meir.

Hananiah ben Teradjon continued to teach despite the Hadrian's ban was allegedly therefore at a 27 Sivan ( Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim chapter. 580) wrapped in a Torah scroll, brought to the stake to be burned along with the Torah (in which he allegedly ben Jose had predicted Qisma ).

The legend says the following: In order to prolong his torment him the executioner should put wet wool on the heart; detected by compassion, advised him the executioner to remove the wool, but he answered:

The executioners now removed the wool and then plunged into the fire in order to escape the punishment of the tyrant.
