Hanover is a town on the Ohio River in the state of Indiana in the United States. It was founded in 1809 by Williamson Dunn and was originally called Dunn 's Settlement. The house of Williamson Dunn - the first building of Hanover - still exists and stands on the corner of Locust Street and 1st Street.

The fictional bartender Woody Boyd from the comedy series Cheers comes from Hanover. The actor Woody Harrelson Woody Boyd embodied, studied at the College of Hanover.
