Hans Alfred Nieper

Hans Alfred Nieper (* May 23, 1928 in Hannover, † 21 October 1998 ) was a doctor of the controversial orthomolecular medicine. He also dealt fundamentally with substances of which he was convinced that they made minerals more available for the body and which he called mineral transporter.

Background

Nieper worked at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz before completing his medical studies at the University of Hamburg. Throughout his career, he worked as director of the Department of Medicine at Silver Lake Hospital in Langenhagen and the "German Society for Medical Tumor Treatment ".

Professional work

He was head of the Aschaffenburg Hospital Laboratory and former director of the German Society for Medical Tumour Treatment. During a visit to the United States declared Nieper 1972 in front of reporters: "After I have devoted myself for over 20 years this very specialized work, I have to say that non-toxic cyanogenic glycosides ( nitrilosides ) - ie Laetrile - other known treatment or prevention measures are far superior. In my opinion, [ the use of ] Laetrile is the only and most effective option available, cancer to get a grip. "

Since Laetrile was banned in Germany until recently, no Laetrile treatments were more carried out in the Silver Lake Clinic. With a judgment of the Higher Administrative Court of Hanover from 2007 the ban was lifted with restrictions and the drug can be used under medical supervision and control for cancer treatment. An analysis of 36 clinical studies on the use of Laetrile in cancer therapy, in 2007 came to the conclusion that Laetrile has no beneficial effects for the patients concerned. To Nieper's patients included, inter alia, Anthony Quinn, John Wayne, Yul Brynner, William Holden, Nancy Sinatra, Princess Caroline of Monaco and the ex-president Ronald Reagan.
