Hans Carste

Hans Friedrich August Carste ( born September 5, 1909 in Frankenthal, † May 11, 1971 in Bad Wiessee; actually Hans Häring ) was a German composer and conductor. Hans Carste wrote, among other things, the theme song of the evening news.

Life

Hans Carste was the son of a diploma engineer and grew up in Lower Austria on Marbach an der Donau and in Ostrava. After high school he began in Vienna in 1927 to study political science and economics, before he moved to the Academy of Music and thus found his true vocation. First practical experiences he gained at the Vienna Volksoper before he went in 1929 as a coach at the Wroclaw Opera. In 1931 he moved to Berlin, enjoyed the permissive lifestyle and found his artistic home quickly. After the " seizure of power" of the Nazis, he joined the NSDAP in May 1933. During the pre-war Berlin Carste wrote 24 film scores and numerous cabaret compositions. With the record company Electrola he had an exclusive contract closed, in addition he ran a dance band under his name.

In 1942 he was called up for military service to Poznan. On the Eastern Front he was severely wounded and fell in November 1942 in Soviet captivity, from which he was released again in 1948. During this time a large part of his operetta scoundrel with a heart, which in 1952 premiered at the Nuremberg Opera House was built.

As the successor of Friedrich Schröder was Carste on April 1, 1949 Head of entertainment and dance music for RIAS Berlin. In addition to his radio work, he composed film scores continue, Pop and dance and entertainment music.

As the first German Carste 1957 les Droits des Sociétés d' gérant Enregistrement et de Reproduction Mécanique ( BIEM ) was appointed in Paris as President of the International Bureau. He was also Chairman of GEMA and board member of the German Composers' Union. 1961 he was awarded the title of Professor. Due to illness put Carste 1967 all honorary offices down and eventually moved in 1970 to Bad Wiessee back. He died there on 11 May 1971 and is also buried at the local cemetery.

The six notes long signature tune of the " evening news " comes from the closing bars of " Hammond Fantasy", the Carste composed in Soviet captivity. It was edited by Rudolf Kuhn 1956 for a 90 -member Radio Orchestra. For a fragment of the fanfare " Hammond Fantasy" received the widow grit Sieglinde Carste even in the 2010s a four-digit monthly GEMA distribution.
