Hans Conon von der Gabelentz

Hans Conon of the Gabelentz ( born October 13, 1807 in Altenburg, † September 3, 1874 in Lemnitz ) was a German linguist.

Life

Hans Conon of the Gabelentz came from the Saxon noble family Gabelentz and studied at the universities of Leipzig and Göttingen Kameralwissenschaft, law and oriental languages ​​, appeared in 1830 in the old burg civil service and in 1831 promoted to the Chamber and Government. Since 1847, District Marshal in the Grand Duchy of Weimar, he resided in 1848 at the Pre-Parliament to Frankfurt and then stood up for the Saxon duchies in the number of 17 trustees.

Later the end of November 1848, he acted as the interim parliament envoy to the dissolution of the Bundestag in July 1848. Appointed Prime Minister of the Duchy of Altenburg, he asked in August 1849 to his dismissal. In 1850 he went as a member of the State house of Altenburg to the Erfurt Parliament; 1851 elected him the landscape of Saxe- Altenburg president. Gabelentz died on September 3, 1874 at his family home Lemnitz Triptis.

The fruit of several years of study are his Eléments de la grammaire mandchoue ( Altenburg 1833). His son George of the Gabelentz was also a significant linguist.

The father of Hans Conon of the Gabelentz was the Privy Councillor and Chancellor altenburgische Hans Karl Leopold of the Gabelentz (1778-1831), who is known as one of the first card player today.
