Hans-Holger Albrecht

Hans -Holger Albrecht ( born 1963 in Brussels) is President and CEO of Millicom, based in Luxembourg.

Life

Hans -Holger Albrecht, was born in Brussels, Belgium, the son of Adele and Heidi Ernst Albrecht, where his father worked at the European Commission. 1971 the family moved to Germany, where Ernst Albrecht Prime Minister of Lower Saxony ( 1976-1990 ) was. One of his six brothers and sisters is the Federal Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen. Hans -Holger Albrecht grew up in Burgdorfer district Beinhorn. He studied at the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau, Yale (USA) and Bochum, where he earned a degree as a lawyer.

Hans -Holger Albrecht lives in London, is married and has seven children as Ursula also.

Career

Hans -Holger Albrecht began in 1990 at Daimler -Benz. From 1991 to 1996 he worked for the media group CLT, where he was responsible for all activities in the television and for the development of business in Germany and Eastern Europe. He worked on new projects for RTL II in Germany, RTL 7 in Poland, RTL 1 in Hungary and Channel 5 in the UK. He was also responsible for the start of Super RTL in Germany and for the development of digital television project Club RTL CLT.

In 1997 he became Head of the pay-TV group within the Viasat Broadcasting of the Modern Times Group, he was appointed head of the division as a whole in 1999, with which he was also responsible for the division free TV. In April 2000 he was appointed COO of MTG. On 1 October 2000, he was Chairman and CEO of MTG AB.

Since November 2012, Hans -Holger Albrecht President and CEO of Millicom.
