Hans Liesche

Hans Lie ( born October 11, 1891 in Hamburg, † March 30, 1979 in Berlin) was a German track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner.

At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 Liesche reached the second place in the high jump behind the American gold medalist Alma Richards, who also crossed 1.91 m with a personal best of 1.91 m. Lie defeated while world record holder George Horine in third place with 1.89 m, who had skipped a few weeks before the Olympics with a new style that has become known as Western scooter in the sports history as the first man to the height of two meters.

Lie won his first national title in 1911 and repeated this success in 1912, 1913 and 1915, after the German Championships were in 1914 failed. In 1918, he took second place and 1919 he finished third.

Hans Lie competed for Eimsbütteler TV. In his playing days, he was 1.88 m tall and weighed 67 kg. He spent his last years in West Berlin.
