Hans Sotin

Hans Sotin ( born September 10, 1939 in Dortmund ) is a German opera singer ( bass), who made himself on the stage, especially as a Wagner singer name ( GURNEMANZ, King Marke, Hunding, Landgraf ) and often sang in Bayreuth, but was also in demand internationally as Sarastro.

The powerful built and equipped with a deep rumbling voice singer studied at the Conservatory with Professor Dortmund Dietger Jacob and made his debut in 1962 in Essen as a police inspector in Richard Strauss' " Der Rosenkavalier". In 1963 he received the Prize of North Rhine- Westphalia for music. In 1964 he sang for several years at the Hamburg State Opera, where he was appointed chamber singer. In guest appearances, he sang at the Vienna State Opera, then in Bayreuth ( 1972 ), and finally all over the world. Sotin is also an excellent Bach interpreter.

His stage farewell was celebrated at a gala evening on 1 June 2012 as part of the Richard Wagner Festival Wels involving large numbers of friends and companions. Manfred Jung gave the eulogy, Verena Lafferentz Wagner, Anja Silja, Heinz Zednik and Gwyneth Jones sent greetings. Hans Sotin is dedicated to the future of the education of young singers.
