Hans van Abeelen

Hans van Abeelen ( born November 20, 1936 in Enschede, † August 21, 1998 in Enschede) was a Dutch behavior geneticist.

Biography

Hans van Abeelen received his diploma from the University of Groningen and his Doctor of Science of the Radboud University Nijmegen in 1965, where he remained for the rest of his career as " wetenschappelijk hoofdmedewerker ". He was a founding member of the Behavior Genetics Association and a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Behavior Genetics from its creation in 1971 until 1992. Van Abeelen chose early retirement in 1991, but was still one of the founding members of the International Behavioural and Neural Genetics Society. During his career he published 64 articles and book chapters and edited a book, The Genetics of Behaviour, which provided an early overview of European behavior genetics.
