Hans von Pechmann

Hans Freiherr von Pechmann ( born April 1, 1850 in Nuremberg, † April 19, 1902 in Tübingen ) was a German chemist.

Life

Pechmann studied chemistry at the Universities of Munich and Greifswald. In 1869 he became a member of the Corps Isaria Munich. He received his Ph.D. in Greifswald with Heinrich Limpricht. Until 1895 he was a professor at the University of Munich. From 1895 to 1902 he worked at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. He maintained a close friendship and professional relationship with Eduard Buchner. From Pechmann difference through committed suicide. He was succeeded in 1902 Gustav Wilhelm Wislicenus on ( 1861-1922 ).

Works

In 1894 he discovered the diazomethane and 1898, the polyethylene. After Hans von Pechmann the Pechmann reaction is named.
