Hans von Rokitansky

Hans Rokitansky, Hans Freiherr von Rokitansky. ( Born March 8, 1835 in Vienna, † November 1, 1909 at Schloss Laubegg, Styria, Austria ) was an Austrian opera singer and voice teacher.

The son of Carl von Rokitansky met in Vienna and Paris and made his debut in Bellini's Norma in 1857. Hans Rokitansky had appearances in Bologna, Florence, Turin and Milan, and was employed in 1862 at the German National Theatre in Prague. At the Court Opera in Vienna, he sang from 1864 to 1893. The High Priest in Karl Goldmark's opera The Queen of Saba, he embodied in Vienna in 1875. Rokitansky was also known as an excellent interpreter of Wagner. He mastered the bel canto lecture and the French grand opera style.

The family tomb is located on the Hernalser cemetery in Vienna ( re arcades, number 24).
