Hans Vonk (footballer)

Adrianus Johannes " Hans " Vonk ( born January 30, 1970 in Alberton, South Africa ) is a former South African soccer goalkeeper Dutch descent.

Career

Vonk played in his career, 43 caps for the South African national football team. In the 1998 World Cup, he was goalkeeper Bafana Bafana, four years later, he took as a replacement for Andre Arendse part in the 2002 World Cup.

His greatest success as a club player celebrated Vonk in the Dutch Eredivisie. From 1996 to 2004, he participated at SC Heerenveen 263 league games. In July 2004 he became the third goalkeeper for Ajax Amsterdam. In the summer of 2006 he signed a two year contract with the South African club Ajax Cape Town, which he left after the 2007/ 08 season.

In October 2008, he was taken from his former club Ajax Amsterdam under contract after he was without a club before. Ajax Amsterdam reaction to the injury of goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, and substitute keeper Dennis Gentenaar. Both club and player had the option to terminate the agreement already during the winter break, if there is no more need to get there. The option was exercised, Vonk joined the SC Heerenveen on. In summer 2009, Vonk returned to South Africa, where he again signed with Ajax Cape Town. There, the goalkeeper is team captain.

Hans Vonk has both the South African and Dutch citizenship.
