Hans Westerhof

Hans Westerhof (* November 24th 1948 in Terborg ) is a Dutch football coach and former professional football player.

Career

As a player

In the years 1975 to 1977 at BV Veendam and 1977 to 1981 at Cambuur Leeuwarden Hans Westerhof played each in the Eredivisie.

As a coach

After end of his career with 33 years Westerhof coached in 1982 for the first time an association. Three years - until 1985 - he was the coach of the amateur club ONS Sneek. Then he headed for three years the Asser Christelijke Voetbalclub. In 1988 he signed a contract with FC Groningen, where he worked for four years as a coach. There followed a year as head coach at the top Dutch club PSV Eindhoven and one year as head of the youth section of the club. He then returned for another three years to Groningen.

In 1997 it attracted Hans Westerhof to Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam, whose outstanding youth department, he was responsible for three years. In the meantime, he was active in the 1999/2000 season as interim coach. From 2000 to 2002 he was head coach at Willem II Tilburg.

In the season 2002/2003 he was first employed as an instructor abroad and took over the Mexican first division club Deportivo Guadalajara. It was followed by two year break and a one-year commitment to the American professional club CD Chivas USA. In the 2007/2008 season he was in charge again a club from Mexico - this time Necaxa. From summer to December 2008, he was coach of the Dutch first division club Vitesse Arnhem.
