Terborg

Terborg is a Dutch village in the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek ( province of Gelderland). It has about 4600 inhabitants.

Terborg is located about seven kilometers south of Doetinchem. It borders the villages Gaanderen ( in the north), Etten ( in the west) and Silvolde ( in the south). Terborg has a station on the railway Arnhem - Winterswijk

Terborg is located on the Old Issel. To the south of the city center is the Kasteel wiping. To the southeast lies the natural landscape De Paasberg.

The patron saint of the city is St. George.

History

Terborg received in 1419 by the Lords of wiping the city rights. The name is derived from the castle of the lords of wiping, which was built in the 12th century on the banks of the Old Issel. This castle there are now no more, today's Kasteel wiping is from the 13th century. In the 19th century Terborg was known for his iron foundries.
