William Maurice, Prince of Nassau-Siegen

Wilhelm Moritz of Nassau - Siegen ( born January 18, 1649 Terborg; † January 23, 1691 in Siegen ) was a Count of Nassau - Siegen ( 1664: Prince of Nassau- Siegen).

Life

He was the son of Henry of Nassau-Siegen (1611-1652) and his first wife Elisabeth von Limburg- Styrum ( 1632-1707 ).

1664 Wilhelm Moritz was raised to the imperial princes. 1678 sat Johann Moritz von Nassau-Siegen his nephew and adopted son of Wilhelm Moritz as co-regent a. From 1679 until his death in 1691 he was ruler of Nassau-Siegen and successor of John Maurice of Nassau- Siegen.

Wilhelm Moritz had his summer residence in the castle Hilchenbach. From 1683 he built a new castle ( William Castle ), which was destroyed in a fire in 1689 in large part, today one can see the seat of Hilchenbach City Archives.   • Karl Ludwig Heinrich Prince of Nassau-Siegen (1682-1694)

After the death of Wilhelm Moritz Ernestine Charlotte took over for the minor children of the guardianship regency (see Hessian State Archives Dept. 171).
