John Francis Desideratus, Prince of Nassau-Siegen

Johann Franz Desideratus Prince of Nassau- Siegen ( born July 28, 1627 Nozeroy, † December 17, 1699 in Roermond ) was the Count of Nassau (since 1652, Prince of Nassau ), Count Katzenelenbogen, Vianden and Diez, Baron of Beilstein and Ronse.

Life

He was the only son of John VIII of Nassau- Siegen (1583-1638) and Princess Ernestine Yolande de Ligne ( 1594-1663 ).

On July 27, 1638 he became Baron Ronse. On November 21, 1652 Kaiser Johann Moritz and Johann Franz Desideratus rose in the imperial princes, now Prince of Nassau-Siegen in Siegen (lock) and Netphen. 1661, he was knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece.

Like his father, he was a Spanish general and governor, and in the years from 1665 to 1675 governor of " Spanish " Limburg, in the years 1675 to 1680 in Luxembourg. On May 20 1680 he was governor of " Spanish " Gelderland.
